A motorcycle crash Saturday night in Apple Valley left a 23-year-old Victorville woman dead and the motorcycle's operator in critical condition, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
Authorities say a Yamaha R7 motorcycle was traveling east on Bear Valley Road nearing Iroquois Road at approximately 9:56 p.m. when a Nissan Titan, driven by a 29-year-old Apple Valley resident, turned east onto Bear Valley Road directly in front of the oncoming motorcycle. The motorcycle then rear-ended the Nissan, ejecting both riders from the bike.
The motorcycle's passenger, identified as Abril Farfan, was taken to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The motorcycle's operator, a 30-year-old Victorville man, remains hospitalized in critical condition, the sheriff's department said.
Both occupants of the Nissan Titan were uninjured in the crash.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
