Authorities continue to investigate a deadly three-vehicle crash near Moss Landing that left two Watsonville residents dead and several others injured Saturday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 10:18 p.m. on Highway 1 north of Springfield Road. A GMC pickup reportedly crossed into oncoming traffic, sideswiped a Ford pickup, and then struck a Honda sedan head-on.

Seventeen-year-old Alberto Martinez Garcia and a 33-year-old man, both occupants of the Honda, were killed as a result of the crash. A third passenger from the same vehicle remains in critical condition.

A woman in the Ford pickup was also hospitalized, while other occupants in that vehicle were not injured.

The driver of the GMC, a 51-year-old man, was arrested after investigators observed signs of alcohol impairment. He faces DUI-related charges as the investigation continues.
