The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision that claimed the lives of two people Thursday morning in Rancho Cucamonga.

According to a coroner's press release, the crash occurred around 9:45 a.m. near the intersection of Fourth Street and Buffalo Avenue.

One of the victims was identified as 34-year-old Alejandra Esperanza Cervantes-Medina of Fontana. Authorities said she was a passenger in a vehicle involved in the collision and died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

A second victim, identified only as a 37-year-old person, also suffered fatal injuries.

Officials have not released information regarding the number of vehicles involved or the cause of the accident. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the deadly collision.
