Alexander Gonzalo, 22, tragically lost his life Saturday in an early morning scooter accident in Austin, officials said.
The Austin Police Department reported that Gonzalo was struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of W. 5th Street and Rio Grande Street around 1:30 a.m. Emergency responders transported Gonzalo to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities noted the driver was not impaired and stayed on the scene. Police urge anyone with information about the collision to contact the Vehicular Homicide Unit.
