Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a 62-year-old man early Saturday in Miami.
According to investigators, Antonio Sanchez was hit by an SUV operated by 41-year-old Deshawn Daniels at approximately 3:30 a.m. in the area of Northwest 12th Avenue and Northwest 28th Street.
Authorities said Daniels fled the scene after the crash. Sanchez was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.
Officials said Daniels later surrendered at a Miami Police station and acknowledged driving the SUV involved in the hit-and-run. He faces a charge of leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death.
