A fatal pedestrian collision involving several vehicles remains under investigation after a man was killed Saturday night on W. Hatch Road in Modesto.
According to the Modesto Police Department, officers responded to the area between Boise Avenue and Dallas Street at approximately 9 p.m. after reports of a pedestrian being struck in the roadway.
Authorities said the pedestrian was hit by multiple vehicles during the incident. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as 34-year-old Arquel Rogers.
Investigators reported that two motorists involved in the collision stayed at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement officials. However, police believe a third driver operating a dark-colored pickup truck also struck Rogers and fled before officers arrived.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the suspected hit-and-run vehicle to contact investigators as they continue working to determine the full sequence of events.
The Modesto Police Department said the investigation into the deadly collision remains ongoing.
