The NYPD is investigating a fatal e-scooter collision that claimed the life of a 54-year-old Queens woman early Sunday.
Officials stated that Blanca Arias was riding a stand-up electric scooter in the bike lane at Crescent Street and 30th Drive around 1:45 a.m. when a Honda Civic struck her. She was thrown from the scooter and suffered a critical head injury.
Arias was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where she was placed on life support before later dying from her injuries. The driver involved was charged with vehicular manslaughter, and police believe impairment was a factor.
