Brian Roberts, 47, died after a vehicle struck him Saturday night while he was walking along Highway 1 near Palo Colorado in Monterey County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 8:23 p.m. when Roberts, a Big Sur man, was walking west and was hit by a northbound Dodge coupe.
Emergency responders transported Roberts to an area hospital following the collision. He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The CHP said alcohol and drugs do not appear to have contributed to the crash.
