
Authorities in Chico have arrested a driver following a fatal motorcycle crash Wednesday evening that claimed the life of a 34-year-old man.
Police said the collision occurred around 6:45 p.m. in the 3000 block of Esplanade. According to investigators with the Chico Police Major Accident Investigation Team, a vehicle turned into the path of a motorcycle operated by Cameron Phillips.
Officials said Phillips was thrown from the motorcycle and struck by another vehicle after landing in the roadway.
Phillips was taken to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries, authorities confirmed.
Police said the driver of the first vehicle, a 40-year-old man, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and booked into Butte County Jail on felony charges including DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
