Authorities are investigating a fatal SUV crash that occurred Saturday evening along the westbound lanes of the 210 Freeway in San Bernardino.

The California Highway Patrol said a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Cardale Boone, 33, of Los Angeles, left the roadway at approximately 9:45 p.m., struck a guardrail, and plunged down an embankment near 30th Street and Little Mountain Drive.

Boone died at the scene. A passenger in the SUV, a 33-year-old Inglewood man, was critically injured and taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center.

CHP officials have not released additional details as the investigation continues.
