Authorities are investigating a fatal rollover crash on Highway 135 near Orcutt that killed a 22-year-old Santa Maria man Sunday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Ford pickup truck was traveling northbound when it left the roadway for unknown reasons and overturned just north of the South Y area at approximately 4:40 p.m.
Officials said at least one occupant was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
The Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Bureau identified the victim as Carlos Huerta-Hernandez. He was transported to a hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Family and friends launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of his funeral services.
The CHP Santa Maria area office continues to investigate the crash.
