Authorities are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that claimed the lives of Carmen Elizabeth Poland and a 6-year-old child Thursday in Rocky Mount.
Police said Poland, 24, was driving on Sunset Avenue near Church View Drive when her Chrysler 200 collided with a Ford Transit van at around 2 p.m.
Both Poland and the child, identified as Lilly Davis, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Another passenger in Poland’s vehicle was seriously injured and taken to a hospital in Greenville, while two occupants of the van suffered minor injuries.
Officials continue to investigate the cause of the crash and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
