Police say a Porterville woman died after being struck in a hit-and-run crash while walking along East Date Avenue last Saturday.
The victim, identified as 53-year-old Carol Paiste, was hit near South Park Street by a Honda Accord whose driver fled the scene. Officials reported that the 51-year-old suspect was taken into custody Thursday.
Paiste’s family is accepting donations at the corner of Prospect and Henderson avenues to help cover burial expenses.
