Authorities are investigating a fatal crash on the northbound 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights involving a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle.
The California Highway Patrol said the collision occurred near Indiana Street around 12:50 p.m. on Monday. The driver of the car, 71-year-old Cesar Biteranta, tragically died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
CHP investigators and the Los Angeles Fire Department responded, and the circumstances of the crash are still under review.
