Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed in a Monday evening collision in Oceanside as 59-year-old Cesar Contreras.
Officials reported that Contreras was crossing Mission Avenue near Francesca Drive when he was struck by an eastbound Chevrolet Tahoe shortly before 6:45 p.m. He died at the scene despite efforts by first responders.
The driver involved remained on-site. Oceanside police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
