Law enforcement officials are searching for a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist Wednesday night in Greenville.
Christopher Babcock, 62, of Winterville, was traveling along U.S. 264 Alternate when a vehicle turned into his path near the intersection with U.S. 13, resulting in a crash.
Babcock was thrown from the motorcycle and died from injuries sustained in the incident. The driver responsible did not stop and fled in the direction of Greene County, authorities said.
Officials noted the suspect vehicle likely has major damage from the crash. The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with relevant information is encouraged to come forward.
