A Clarksburg man lost his life following a pedestrian accident Friday evening on Interstate 44 near Springfield, authorities said.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 2016 Honda Civic traveling westbound struck the pedestrian shortly after 8:20 p.m. The collision occurred roughly two-tenths of a mile west of the city.
After the initial impact, the victim was thrown into traffic and was hit again by a 2021 Nissan Versa.
Emergency responders rushed the man to Mercy Hospital for treatment, but he later died from his injuries.
Officials have not yet released further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the crash.
