A two-vehicle collision on Interstate 5 in Oceanside left two people dead Saturday afternoon, officials said.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a sedan carrying Cora Cecilia Perez became disabled near the Aliso Creek Rest Area at approximately 2:30 p.m. Moments later, a tow truck collided with the stopped vehicle.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Perez, 64, and the driver of the sedan died at the scene due to multiple blunt force injuries.

CHP continues to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.
