Fresno police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred Monday morning on Gettysburg Avenue near Maple Avenue.
According to investigators, 63-year-old Daniel Martinez was driving a sedan eastbound on Gettysburg Avenue at approximately 11:40 a.m. when a truck struck the rear of his vehicle.
Martinez suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities also confirmed that his dog died in the collision.
The truck driver sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Police have not released the driver's identity.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
