Authorities are investigating a fatal small plane accident that claimed the lives of two individuals on Catalina Island Thursday afternoon.
According to officials, Daniel Sarner and Robert Cox were aboard a 2014 Sling 2 aircraft when it crashed in a rugged area around 12:30 p.m. The plane had taken off earlier from Torrance but was later found in a ravine in a hard-to-reach location.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, but both occupants succumbed to their injuries. Investigators are now working to determine whether mechanical failure, weather conditions, or other factors contributed to the crash.
The FAA and NTSB continue to examine evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.
