A snow-related accident on Highway 50 left Daniel Tam and two others hospitalized Monday afternoon, officials said.
Tam, 23, was assisting a driver with tire chains when a pickup truck traveling west lost control on the icy roadway and struck the group. Emergency responders and passersby helped free the victims, all of whom sustained serious injuries. CHP is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
