Darlene Ibarra, 35, died Saturday afternoon after being struck by a rideshare vehicle that jumped a curb and entered a sidewalk in San Antonio.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, the crash happened just after 1 p.m. near the intersection of Bandera Road and Quill Drive.

Authorities said Ibarra was standing on the corner holding an advertisement sign when the vehicle struck her.

The driver, identified as an Uber rideshare operator, reportedly told police he mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake while attempting to turn west onto Bandera Road.

Ibarra suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Police said the driver remained at the location and cooperated fully with the investigation. No signs of impairment were reported, and the case is not currently being treated as criminal.
