Authorities are investigating a deadly single-vehicle crash that occurred after a driver fled deputies early Sunday in Madera County.
Officials said deputies received reports of burglaries near El Vado and Avenue 18½ and later located the suspect vehicle. The driver sped away and crashed into a concrete barrier near Highway 99 and Avenue 17.
David Daza Perez, 15, was identified as one of four people killed in the crash. Two other teenage passengers and the driver also died. An 18-year-old passenger was flown to a hospital in critical condition.
The California Highway Patrol is handling the investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective M. Fullhart.
