One person died and two others suffered major injuries after a wrong-way driver caused a multi-vehicle collision on southbound Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo County late Wednesday night.
The California Highway Patrol said the crash occurred on the Cuesta Grade at approximately 11:25 p.m.
A GMC Canyon driven by David Worthington Ross was traveling the wrong way in the southbound lanes when it collided head-on with a Dodge Charger in the No. 1 lane.
Three other vehicles subsequently struck the GMC and Dodge.
A 55-year-old Grover Beach resident who was a passenger in the Dodge died at the scene. The drivers of the GMC, Ross, and Dodge were taken to Sierra Vista Hospital with major injuries.
Ross was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs, officials said.
