California Highway Patrol investigators are continuing to examine a fatal rear-end collision that claimed the life of 17-year-old David Vargas Vasquez late Friday night in Lost Hills.
According to CHP, the crash occurred at about 11:23 p.m. on Lost Hills Road, just south of King Street. Authorities said Vasquez was riding a motorized scooter when it was struck from behind by a Chevrolet Express Van operated by a 63-year-old Sacramento man.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced Vasquez dead from injuries sustained in the collision.
Officials have not announced whether impairment or other factors played a role in the crash. The investigation remains active as CHP works to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
