California Highway Patrol officials are investigating a fatal crash that resulted in murder charges against Douglas Guyton.
According to investigators, the crash occurred when Guyton allegedly struck a Jeep from behind while traveling on a freeway connector. The Jeep was forced off the overpass and fell into the Sweetwater River.
Emergency responders pronounced both occupants of the Jeep dead at the scene.
Guyton was taken into custody hours later on suspicion of DUI and now faces murder charges. Authorities are asking any witnesses to come forward as the investigation continues.
