Authorities are investigating a fatal crash involving a vehicle that lost control and struck a tree in Monterey County.
According to CHP, the vehicle was traveling at excessive speed when it veered off Meridian Road and crashed.
Passenger Edgar Jeremiah Banuelos-Gonzalez, 16, was killed in the collision. Other occupants, including two juveniles and the driver, were injured and hospitalized.
Officials said the driver may face charges related to driving under the influence and manslaughter. The investigation is ongoing.
