San Francisco police are investigating the death of a 26-year-old man found unresponsive in the street in the Excelsior District early Tuesday morning, in what a pedestrian-safety group is calling the third traffic fatality on the same stretch of road in three years.

Edson Abraham Morales Garay was discovered in the 900 block of Geneva Avenue at 6:23 a.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the victim. Police initially listed the cause of death as undetermined, and no suspect information or vehicle description has been released.

Walk San Francisco, a local pedestrian-safety advocacy organization, publicly identified the incident as a traffic collision and flagged the location's troubling history. The group noted that Morales Garay's death represents the third pedestrian killed on Geneva Avenue in the past three years, drawing renewed public attention to safety conditions along the corridor.

The SFPD continues to actively investigate the circumstances surrounding the death. Anyone with knowledge of the incident is asked to come forward and contact the San Francisco Police Department.
