A Dos Palos youth sports coach was killed early Saturday when a modified Jeep he was riding in overturned on a remote unpaved road near Mercey Hot Springs in Merced County.
The Jeep was attempting to climb a hill about three miles from the resort when it began rolling backward and flipped, ejecting all three occupants.
Emeterio Cuevas Sr., 59, a passenger, was killed at the scene. The driver suffered major injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital. A second passenger, despite being injured, climbed down the hill to call 911.
The Merced County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.
