A 24-year-old pedestrian, Eric Francisco Alvarez Esquivel, died after being struck by an unidentified vehicle that fled the scene in San Diego, police said.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 3 a.m. Monday in the 13700 block of Carmel Valley Road.
According to the San Diego Police Department, Alvarez Esquivel was walking along Carmel Valley Road when a vehicle struck him. The driver did not stop after the impact and left the area.
Emergency personnel responded to the location and found Alvarez Esquivel. Medical personnel confirmed that he had died at the scene.
Authorities identified the pedestrian as Eric Francisco Alvarez Esquivel.
Police said the suspect vehicle and driver had not been identified. The San Diego Police Department investigated the crash scene.
