A Modesto pedestrian died early Friday after being hit by a vehicle in west Modesto, officials confirmed.
Authorities identified the victim as 54-year-old Eric Vielma. Police said the collision occurred at about 12:30 a.m. on Paradise Road near Leon Avenue when an eastbound sedan struck Vielma. Firefighters lifted the sedan to reach the victim, but he died at the scene.
Modesto police said impairment was not involved. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
