
A DUI-related hit-and-run crash in Coalinga on Friday left one person injured, authorities confirmed.
Police said the incident took place at the intersection of Elm Avenue and Seventh Street when a Honda Accord and a Chevrolet pickup truck collided. The driver of the Honda sustained injuries and was pinned inside the vehicle until first responders freed them.
Investigators allege that the pickup driver, Ernesto Salatiel Avina Rodriguez, fled the scene but was later found by officers. Despite denying alcohol use, Rodriguez allegedly recorded a BAC of .10% following testing.
He now faces felony DUI with injury and felony hit-and-run charges. Officials continue to review the circumstances surrounding the crash.
