Authorities in Palm Springs are continuing to investigate a multi-vehicle crash that injured three people Tuesday evening and resulted in the arrest of a suspected impaired driver.

According to investigators, Gabriel Nieto Gutierrez-Roque, 30, was taken into custody and booked at the John Benoit Detention Center pending DUI-related charges following the collision on Indian Canyon Drive.

Police said the incident began shortly after 5:30 p.m. when a driver made an abrupt lane change and sideswiped another vehicle. The initial impact caused the struck vehicle to enter opposing traffic, where it was involved in a head-on collision with a third vehicle. A fourth vehicle was subsequently involved in the crash sequence.

Emergency responders transported three injured victims to a local hospital. One individual sustained critical injuries, while authorities have not released information regarding the conditions of the remaining victims.

The identities of the injured parties have not been disclosed. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash and whether additional factors contributed to the incident.
