Authorities released further details after a stolen Hyundai fleeing police struck an Alhambra Police Department SUV early Thursday, leading to two deaths.
CHP investigators said the pursuit ended near Edgewood Street and Valley Boulevard at around 3 a.m., where the suspect vehicle crashed into the police SUV.
Gabriela Moreno, 42, a passenger in the Hyundai, was ejected from the vehicle and tragically declared deceased at the scene. The police officer behind the wheel of the department SUV also died from crash injuries.
A second Hyundai passenger was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the stolen vehicle, a 27-year-old man from El Monte, was taken into custody on suspicion of second-degree murder. Authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
