California Highway Patrol officers are investigating a fatal six-vehicle collision that occurred Tuesday morning on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Los Angeles.
The crash happened at approximately 8 a.m. near Soto Street and claimed the life of Gary Swanson, 61. Authorities said Swanson died at the scene after sustaining fatal injuries in the multi-vehicle collision.
A second individual involved in the crash was transported to a hospital for treatment. Officials have not disclosed the nature or severity of that person's injuries.
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances that led to the six-vehicle crash. Additional information has not yet been released.
