Authorities are investigating a fatal DUI crash in Santa Clarita that claimed the lives of Genry Ortiz and Patty Ortiz on Friday night.
The Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred around 11:15 p.m. at Newhall Canyon Road and Bouquet Canyon Road when a suspected impaired driver struck the couple’s vehicle. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other died shortly after at a hospital.
Their daughter, Erin Ortiz, survived the crash and remains hospitalized. Investigators said a breath test was administered to the suspect, who was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist with funeral costs and medical expenses.
