San Bernardino County deputies are investigating a fatal vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash that claimed the life of Hughie J. Sheppard Sunday night in Apple Valley.
The collision occurred on the eastbound side of Highway 18 near Apple Valley Road at about 10:54 p.m., officials said. Sheppard, 37, was struck by a 2015 Nissan Altima and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 21-year-old man from Victorville, remained at the location and was uninjured. Investigators continue examining the circumstances surrounding the crash.
