A bicyclist was killed Monday night in a hit-and-run crash in Deptford, and an 18-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, a cyclist was struck by a vehicle in the 1700 block of Delsea Drive near Brenner Avenue shortly before 8:30 p.m. The impact threw the victim into the roadway, where a second vehicle struck them and fled the scene.
The bicyclist died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Authorities identified the driver of the second vehicle as Iqrar Ahmad, 18, of Deptford. He returned to the scene about two hours later and was taken into custody. Ahmad has been charged with second-degree leaving the scene of a fatal crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
