The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred early Monday morning near Turlock.
According to CHP, Irene Rodriguez, 52, was driving north on Washington Road in a 2018 Toyota SUV when she struck a man walking in the roadway at about 4:35 a.m.
Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian, a 52-year-old man from Turlock, dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet publicly identified the victim.
Officials confirmed that Rodriguez was unharmed and impairment was not considered a factor in the crash. The investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
