
Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver responsible for seriously injuring a teenage electric bike rider Tuesday night in Bakersfield.
According to police, Isaiah Jeffers, 17, was riding west along Planz Road near South Chester Avenue at around 10 p.m. when he was struck from behind by a speeding vehicle.
The impact caused Jeffers to be dragged along the roadway, resulting in severe injuries, including road rash, a broken knee, and facial trauma requiring surgical treatment and skin grafts.
The suspect driver fled the scene immediately after the crash and remains unidentified. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and asking the public for assistance.
The Bakersfield Police Traffic Division continues to investigate.
