A 54-year-old Pennsylvania man was killed Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle while standing outside his disabled car on the New Jersey Turnpike in Elizabeth.
According to the New Jersey State Police, a Toyota traveling southbound struck James Guevarra, of Langhorne, near milepost 100.5 at approximately 9:01 p.m. Authorities said the vehicle then crashed into Guevarra’s parked Tesla.
Guevarra died from injuries sustained in the crash.
A passenger in the Tesla, identified as 52-year-old Frances Guevarra, was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries. The 31-year-old Elizabeth woman driving the Toyota sustained serious injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
