Authorities are investigating a fatal bicycle accident that claimed the life of James Joseph Berta Tuesday in Coronado.
Officials said Berta, 78, was cycling southbound on State Route 78 when his bicycle collided with an SUV at the intersection of Tulagi Road shortly after 1:30 p.m.
Emergency responders pronounced Berta dead at the scene.
The crash occurred near the Naval Amphibious Base, and no additional details have been released as the investigation continues.
