Pedestrian Javier Tamayo killed in Manchester Square hit-and-run Wreck

Authorities are searching for a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of a Los Angeles man Sunday evening.

According to police, Javier Tamayo was struck around 9:30 p.m. near South Western Avenue and West 82nd Street while crossing in a crosswalk. The driver continued northbound and fled the scene.

Tamayo died at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision.

Investigators said the suspect vehicle is believed to be a tan GMC equipped with LED lighting along its running boards. The case is being handled by the LAPD’s South Traffic Division.
