A speeding hit-and-run driver caused a two-vehicle crash that injured three people Thursday night along Interstate 90 in Adams County, authorities said.

Washington State Patrol investigators reported that a 2003 Toyota Corolla rear-ended a 2022 Subaru Forester at high speed around 8:19 p.m., sending both vehicles into a spin. The Subaru was then struck again and rolled multiple times before stopping about 50 feet from the right shoulder.

The driver, Jeremy R. Zweifel of Olympia, was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center for treatment. Passengers Heather J. Tschaekofske, 49, and a 15-year-old were also hospitalized.

Troopers said the Toyota driver fled on foot. The case remains under investigation.
