Jerrod Tyson Chapman-Marshall, 19, of Livermore, died Sunday after a BMW convertible crashed into a tree in Monterey, authorities said.

The Monterey Police Department said the crash happened at approximately 5:14 p.m. near Barnett Segal Road and Iris Canyon Road.

Chapman-Marshall was one of four people inside the 2009 BMW. All four occupants were transported to Natividad Medical Center following the collision.

Chapman-Marshall died from injuries sustained in the crash. The 20-year-old Dublin man who was driving was hospitalized, while two other passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the driver showed signs of impairment and had a preliminary blood alcohol screening above the legal limit.

He faces a gross vehicular manslaughter charge and is expected to be booked into Monterey County Jail following his release from the hospital.

Investigators believe the BMW may have been involved in other reckless driving incidents before Sunday's crash. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Monterey Police Department.
