Investigators with the Oxnard Police Department are continuing to examine a fatal pedestrian accident that claimed the life of a local man late Saturday night near the Five Points neighborhood.

According to police, the collision happened just after 11:30 p.m. on Wooley Road when a pedestrian crossing the street was struck by a westbound Ford Expedition. Authorities said the force of the impact caused the victim to be thrown into the opposite lane of traffic.

The motorist involved stopped at the location and cooperated fully with investigators. Police stated that neither impairment nor criminal behavior appeared to be factors, and no citations had been issued as of Sunday.
