Hayward police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that claimed the life of Jill Lanto on Tuesday evening.
Officers responded to the 23000 block of Mission Boulevard around 9:20 p.m. after receiving reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Authorities said Lanto was hit by an Acura SUV traveling northbound.
She was taken to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The case remains under review.
