A fatal pedestrian collision in Denham Springs on Dec. 2 claimed the life of a 21-year-old man, according to local police.
Authorities reported that Jody Richards was crossing Florida Boulevard near Eugene Street when he was struck by a vehicle around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday. He was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.
Police confirmed that the driver stayed at the scene following the crash. Impairment is not suspected, but toxicology samples were taken as part of standard procedure.
The Denham Springs Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident. A fundraiser is helping the family with funeral-related costs.
