A suspected DUI driver was arrested following a fatal wrong-way crash Saturday night on Highway 99 near Delano that left one man dead and several others injured.
According to CHP, a Tesla Model X driven by a 28-year-old Shafter resident traveled the wrong direction before colliding with a Nissan Frontier. The impact caused a secondary crash involving a Dodge Charger.
Joel Salomon Sanchez Perez, 55, died at the scene. Four occupants in the Dodge sustained minor injuries.
The Tesla driver was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and manslaughter charges. The crash remains under investigation.
