John Joachim Miranda, 51, died Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle at an intersection in La Mesa, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Emergency crews responded to Avocado Boulevard and Explorer Road shortly after 10 p.m. Officials found Miranda at the scene, where he was pronounced dead at 10:20 p.m.
Authorities reported that a vehicle struck Miranda at the La Mesa intersection. The medical examiner's office later determined that the manner of death was suicide resulting from multiple blunt force injuries.
Officials confirmed that Miranda's next of kin were notified.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the fatal pedestrian incident occurred Thursday night and continues to be handled by authorities.
